Big Tent
Play is an integral part of childhood development. In Nigeria, play is a luxury; a majority of children do not have much, let alone adults. The BIG TENT project provides a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children and youth to play, explore their passions, develop new skills, and become active members of their community in each community.

The BIG TENT establishes safe, inclusive hubs where play and exploration drive childhood development and youth empowerment. Recognizing that play is a vital luxury often missing in Nigeria, we provide stimulating environments for young people to discover passions and build new skills. Each space is managed directly by its host community, with SR4DI providing strategic oversight and supervisory support act.
Our Impacts
By localizing management, we have fostered community ownership and created sustainable havens for cognitive and social growth. The project has successfully integrated play into the lives of hundreds of children and youth, improving mental wellbeing and transforming participants into active, engaged members of their local communities.
Our Goals
- Our goal is to establish a BIG TENT in every community, ensuring that the right to play and passion-led learning is accessible to all.
- We aim to empower host communities to independently manage these safe spaces while maintaining high standards of oversight, ultimately bridging the developmental gap for the next generation.
