16 Days of Activism 2021

A violent FREE world; begins with compassion and respect.

The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign (16 Days Campaign) is a United Nations campaign that takes place annually from 25 November (International Day of No Violence against Women) to 10 December which happens to be the International Human Rights Day.

The theme for the 2021 16 days activism is “Orange the world: End violence against women now!” is designed for the continued awareness of the endemic violence against women and girls all over the world.

The United Nations described VAWG as a pandemic since after the outrageous escalation of violence during the covid19 lockdown of 2020. It is called VAWG as ‘a pandemic within the pandemic’.

Women and girls have faced a myriad of similar and unique challenges around the globe for centuries. Despite efforts of many countries and societies to mitigate the historic marginalization of, – and violence against women and girls, it has remained endemic. Women and girls remain the worst affected by war, climate change, poverty, industrialization, and global health crises.

Sheroes Rising Development Initiative is committed to ensuring a gender-equal and violence-free world. Hence to commemorate the 2021 16 days of activism against VAWG, sheroes.ng offers its readers and audience the world over the opportunity to lend their voices and faces to this campaign.
