The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 26-year-old school gateman, Josiah Ayomide, accused of defiling a four-year-old pupil in an Ibadan school.

The Police Public Relations Officer Oyo state Police Command  Adewale Osifeso. said the incident came to light on 29th August 2025 when the child complained of unusual and severe pains in her private parts to her elder sister. The girl later confided in her mother, disclosing that the school’s gatekeeper had unlawfully raped her during school hours

The survivor was taken to the Police Medical Clinic in Eleyele, Ibadan, for examination. Medical findings painted a deeply troubling picture:

• The child’s hymen was no longer intac
• There was tenderness in the vaginal area
• Multiple bruises were found around the vulva

Osifeso further revealed that the suspect, following his arrest, confessed to the crime. He remains in custody and will be formally prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
