It is 2026, yet Women in Northern Nigeria are not economically empowered in a meaningful or equitable sense, especially when compared to women in Southern Nigeria or to men in the same region. Despite participating in different economic activities (often out of necessity), their involvement is largely confined to low-productivity, informal, and vulnerable work conditions with limited control over resources, income, or decision-making.
