Kenyan Femicide: Family of Naomi Wangari Demands Justice

Naivasha woman Naomi Wangari has been found dead at Nairobi City Mortuary. Family seeks justice, boyfriend missing, and DCI criticised for sluggish investigations.

A family in Naivasha, Nakuru County, is in deep mourning after the tragic death of their daughter, Naomi Wangari, a 29-year-old mother of two. Wangari went missing on August 24, 2025, and her body was later discovered at the Nairobi City Mortuary after a desperate search by her family.

According to her father, Elisha Mburu, Wangari was at home with her children in Mlolongo, Machakos County, when she received a phone call on the evening she disappeared (August 24, 2025). She reportedly left home to meet her boyfriend, Kimani, at a club called Continental in Mlolongo.

That was the last time her family saw or heard from her. Days later, their search ended in heartbreak.

Mburu recalled the painful moment:

“We moved to many mortuaries and only found her yesterday at City Mortuary. Her body was mutilated, and it seems that the people who killed her wanted to make it look like she was run over by a car.”

Naomi’s mother, Grace Mukuhi, described her daughter as hardworking and the sole provider for her two children. Tearfully, she shared her last memory of her daughter:

“My daughter was not a thief. I just saw her text; she had only said hello. I didn’t see it early enough because my phone was off, and when I finally got back online.”

The family revealed that Wangari disappeared the same night as her boyfriend, Kimani, who is now missing. Police have yet to confirm his whereabouts but consider him a prime suspect in her death.

Frustrated by the pace of investigations, the family accused the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of handling the case sluggishly. They fear justice may be delayed, allowing those behind the killing to escape.

As investigations continue, her two young children remain in the care of their elderly grandparents, who continue to call for truth, justice, and closure.
