Vice President For A Day

Nigeria stood still on Monday, October 20th as Joy Ogah took the seat of Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from VP. Kashim Shettima in Abuja as a one day vice President.

 

Through the event organized by PLAN International, Vice President Joy Ogah called for girl child education and empowerment,  highlighting the over 18.5 million children are out of school of which over 60% are girls. She further called for investment in education that is safe and inclusive of every child in Nigeria.

While speaking at the seat of power as Vice President, Joy expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to represent millions of Nigerian girls. She urged the relevant authorities to enforce laws that protect the rights if every girl child and highlighted the need to provide sanitary products in schools as well as access to water, sanitation and nutrition.

When girls are protected, peace becomes possible.

Few days ago, the world  celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child with the theme; “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Front Lines of Crisis”,

Joy though a teenager imbibes leadership qualities and used the platform to call for the betterment of the girl child and Nigerian children at large.
