Meru Family Seeks Justice After Businessman Allegedly Burns 15-Year-Old Daughter Over Phone Theft Claim 

A heartbreaking story from Meru County has sparked national outrage as a family seeks justice for 15-year-old Betty Gacheri, who was allegedly scalded with hot water by a well-known businessman accusing her of stealing a phone.

According to reports, the businessman confronted the young girl over the alleged theft before pouring hot water on her, leaving her with severe burns. The brutal incident left the young girl with severe burns on her legs, hands, chest, and other parts of her body.

Despite her family’s efforts to file complaints at the local police station, justice has yet to be served. The suspect was reportedly arraigned in court but later released, and has allegedly been threatening the victim’s family, claiming he is “untouchable.”

The incident has ignited massive outrage online, especially on TikTok, Facebook, and X (Twitter), where Kenyans are using the hashtag #JusticeForGacheri to condemn the attack and demand swift legal action.

A group of well-wishers and activists has also planned to visit the victim’s home in Kianjai to offer comfort and support to the family, while continuing to amplify the cry for justice for the young girl.
