Dr. Hadiza Balarabe- First in line

Today, Nigeria stepped into another 4 years democratic dispensation of the same people at the helm of affairs (it is always hard to defeat an incumbent- NO). Except for some few new faces at the recently sworn in queue of those to lead the affairs of the most populous black nation in the world, the rest are ones we’d been used to.

Today, Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai even though returning, stood out and made history as the first Northern state Governor to have a female deputy.  The North is finally taking baby steps to real development almost 20 years behind the south.

Nasir Ahmed Elrufai and his Deputy Hadiza Balarabe

When Malam Nasir El-Rufai picked a female running mate, a lot of people thought it was a joke and prophesized the downfall of the most efficient, committed, result oriented yet controversial Governor in the entire 19 Northern states- because he picked a female running mate.  A lot of people especially the overzealously religious insisted it spelled doom for the state, region, and country in general because women equal perdition – sighs.

Apparently, they are either completely ignorant of the numerous women who have proven to be exemplary leaders throughout history, and those currently showing amazing strengths and setting the pace for exemplary quality leadership all over the world.

Well, Wednesday 29th May 2019 will forever go down in the history of Kaduna state as not only the day the second leadership of Malam Nasir Elrufai was inaugurated, but as the day the first female Deputy Governor in Northern Nigeria was inaugurated. Hajia Hadiza Balabrabe has created history as the first in the line of female Deputy Governors in the North.

Despite the fact that the only 35% leadership slot given to women since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule has never been filled, and the north which is the most populous has the least female representation in leadership spaces; some people are not happy with this development.
They are not happy that Nigerian woman especially the Northern woman is finally getting recognition; and her abundant talents and abilities will now finally be appreciated, harvested and exploited for the progress and development of the society. They are not happy that a woman was recognized to have more value to add to society over them. They are not happy, that the woman is finally taking her place at THE TABLE.

Dear wailers, sorry we are happy about this development which is long overdue. This is something that should have happened over a decade ago, but better late than never. Our society is now ready for real and quality growth, development, and success. Kaduna now has a balance of energies at the helm. Kaduna is set for real progress, success, harmony, and peace. Kaduna is balanced for better.

So, while you are busy wailing, we are busy rejoicing, not at your pain, but at our victory because we- are neither sadist nor narcissist. We cannot take pleasure in your pain, but we shall continue to rejoice at our victory.

In this vein, we advise you to get over it, and used to it, because this is just the beginning.  The future is FEMALE.

Congratulations Kaduna state
